This page is a resource for DIY artists, graphics designers and everyone who likes paper crafts (like me). It contains an ever growing number of templates for gift boxes and increasingly more other interesting things that can be made out of paper. What makes this site special is that the templates are all dynamic: you can customize almost all dimensions. All templates are free, no login is required.

Cake Slice Box

A piece of cake. Literally. A wedge-shaped box that can be used to store pieces of cake. The box consists of an upper and a lower part. The upper part is the cover. The lower part is a “flat pack” that doesn't need glue, because it will be locked by cover. By default, the cover is 5% larger then the bottom but this can be adjusted in the expert settings.

The angle is a measure for how big a piece of cake can fit in. Look in the figure if you don't know what to enter here. For example, an angle of 30 is large enough for 1 piece from a 12-piece cake.

The length is the length of the piece, which should be about half the diameter of the complete cake. Be sure to add some allowance here.

Heart Shaped Box

A heart-shaped box. Not because I like Valentine's day, but because I think the third album by Nirvana is awesome... With special help from my girlfriend! The box is not hermetically closed, the circular walls are not glued to the bottom. Have a look at the extra photo's in the 'more options'-page. The width can't be larger then the length. If you try this, the width will be made equal to the length.

Match Box

A drawer, consisting of a sleeve (the cabinet) and a drawer box. Store anything from beads, matches, CD's or your paperwork archive, depending on the sizes you choose here. The amount of space between the drawer and the sleeve can be set using the 'clearance'.

Polygon-shaped box

This is the ultimate gift wrapping for home made presents. Instead of a rectangular box, this one can have any number of sides. Create a triangular, hexagonal or even dodecagonal (12-sided!) package. Take good care when folding the lid, there are both mountain folds and valey folds!

Envelope

A very flat container for letters and the like. By the way: it's not possible to create a A6 envelope out of a A4 sheet using this template — it just won't fit.

It is possible to get an A6 envelope out of an A4, but there's hardly any space left. The template will be rotated so it just fits. When you print this template, you must be able to print (almost) borderless. Center the image and make sure page scaling is set to none, or 100% or 1:1. The title of the template will fall of the page, but that doesn't matter.

Card Box

A long, thin box. Suitable for chocolate cigaretes, playing cards, etc. The default dimensions are fine for a set of standard, European, playing cards (“bridge size”).

Bag

A typical paper bag that can be stored completely flat. A goodie-bag, maybe? The top is of the bag is folded inward, to allow for extra strength. There are also 16 holes allowing for a nice little chord to be put through. It's so cute, I could almost die… Nice for gift-wrapping bottles.

Passe-Partout

A.k.a.: shadowbox or picture-frame. Can also be used as double walled box. This template is a bit picky. The frame-width should be more then the height plus a centimeter. Make sure to keep the height small relative to the other dimensions.

(Truncated) Cone

A cone, optionally with the top cut off. (In that case, it’s called a frustum). Think of it as a beaker, bucket or a party-hat. The calculations are horrific, that's why I created a template for it. If you'd like a real cone, just use zero for the top-diameter. I added an extra line in the center of the template that can be used as a base line for curved text.

Milk carton. When home made, probably more suitable for dry stuff then for liquids. Much more original for giving a bottle of wine then a bag.

Let's add some sweetness to these templates. Curved cardboard - sweet! Be carefull to keep the width at least two times larger then the height.

Decorative Star

Hardly usuable to store anything, but very nice as a christmas-decoration. Depending on the dimensions, you'll either get a template for one point of the star (which you'll have to print a couple of times), or for one side of the star (which you'll have to print twice). The latter is the quickest and easiest way. To 'trigger' this one: use a large height, large inner radius and a low amount of points. The given parameters will work for this.

Parallelepiped

Rectangular boxes are boring. Hipsters create parallelepipeds! This templates creates the “net” or the paper model for a parallelepiped, a box that is skewed in three dimensions.

Chose all three angles between 0º (completely flat) and 90º ( the ordinary, straight angle). Mind you that a 100 º angle would be equivalent to a 80º angle…

The template creates a separate island for every segment. All these islands are identical. When assembled, together they create a sphere or a globe.

Coffin

It’s Halloween so serve your trick or treat candy in style: put those sweets in a coffin! This template comes with a base and a lid.

Use some extra scotch tape to secure the lid to base, or it might open at midnight… allowing to content to wander around your house. Mwhahahaha!

Cylinder with mitered ends

A cylinder that’s truncated under an angle. It can be truncated at an angle both at the top and the bottom. The length is measured over the axis of the cylinder.
The bottom angle can also be rotated around the axis, as if the already truncated cylinder were twisted.

Mitered cylinders, or tubes, are used a lot in engineering to connect tubes. For those who like to make boxes with this template: a top and a bottom piece are also provided.
Be sure not to fold the glue-tab!

Round box ( hat box )

A round, cylinder shaped box. Might, for example, be used as a hat box or as a roll.

If you want a simple, open, cilinder, then you only need the first part (or first page.)

Box insert

This is not a box — this is something to put inside a box. It creates an “insert” that can be used to serure items inside the box. You can make several of them, so can store several items separated in one box. There‘s some extra space for your thumb, so you can grab the item easely.

Elliptical box

A variation on the round box: an elliptical or oval box. The template comes with a lid and with ovals that form the top and the bottom.

Trapezoid

A trapezoid or trapezium shaped box, typical for expensive chocolates.

If the Parallelepiped is too novel for you, but the Giftbox is too boring, the Trapezoid is your “weapon of choice”.

Depending on the dimensions, this site chooses between one of two lay-outs, to create the most efficient template.

Polygon-shaped box with Lid

Create a 5-sided, 7-sided or even 13-sided box. The lid is separate and slightly larger, which can controlled by setting the “clearance.”

You can choose any number of sides, as long as there are between 3 and 20 sides (inclusive). 4 would be boring, though…

Boxes with 3, 4 or 6 sides assemble beautifully into larger constellations when you make a couple or more of the same.

A very common box, but assembled from 6 sheets. This allows for larger boxes if your sheets are limited in size.

Box with lid

A box with a lid - a very simple template. The height of the lid and the space between the lid and the box (clearance) can be customised.

A rhombus or lozenge-shaped box. By definition, all four sides of the rhombus have the same length.
